Position Summary

The Field HSE Coordinator supports construction operations by promoting a safe, compliant, and proactive work environment across assigned projects. Working under the direction of the Division HSE Coordinator, this position helps ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations. The Field HSE Coordinator works directly with field leadership and employees to identify and correct hazards, conduct jobsite and equipment inspections, support incident investigations, coordinate safety training, facilitate safety meetings, and maintain required HSE documentation. This position requires significant time in the field and the ability to effectively communicate safety expectations at all levels of the organization.

Essential Job Functions

Field Safety & Compliance

• Conduct routine, documented inspections of jobsites, work activities, tools, and equipment to identify existing and potential hazards and verify compliance with company and client safety requirements.
• Work with supervisors and field leadership to develop and maintain safe work plans, Authorization to Work (ATW) documentation, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and other required permits.
• Review project safety documentation, including JSAs, internal and client-required permits, checklists, and related records for accuracy and completeness.
• Perform onsite hazard assessments and coordinate timely corrective actions when unsafe conditions or practices are identified.
• Monitor field activities to promote compliance with established HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide practical safety guidance and support to supervisors, employees, and project teams.

Incident Investigation & Follow-Up

• Investigate employee injuries, property damage, near misses, and other safety-related incidents.
• Prepare accurate and timely incident reports and communicate required information to appropriate company personnel.
• Assist injured employees with obtaining appropriate medical evaluation when required and provide follow-up through resolution of the incident.
• Participate in identifying contributing factors and corrective actions to help prevent recurrence.
• Maintain appropriate incident documentation and confidentiality.

Safety Meetings & Employee Training

• Plan, prepare, and conduct weekly safety meetings and other field safety communications.
• Present safety topics including Hazard Communication, hazardous materials, personal protective equipment, safety awareness, Last-Minute Risk Assessments, observation programs, incident reviews, and other applicable subjects.
• Assist the Division HSE Coordinator with coordinating and documenting employee safety training.
• Support New Employee Orientation and training programs including First Aid/CPR, Defensive Driving, H2S, Confined Space, Drug & Alcohol requirements, and other applicable HSE training.
• Assist with coordination and delivery of Annual Safety Training and project-specific safety training.
• Maintain accurate employee training records and assist with uploading information into applicable company systems.
• Emergency Preparedness Establish and maintain effective working relationships with emergency response agencies and resources within assigned project areas.
• Support project emergency planning and help ensure field teams understand applicable emergency response procedures.
• Assist with coordination and response activities when emergencies or significant incidents occur.
• Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate and timely HSE records, inspection reports, training documentation, permits, and incident information.
• Use company systems and Microsoft Office applications to prepare reports, maintain records, and communicate HSE information.
• Provide HSE information and reports to field and division leadership as requested.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee, incident, and company information.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong commitment to workplace safety and the ability to recognize existing and potential jobsite hazards.
• Working knowledge of construction safety practices and applicable HSE requirements.
• Ability to effectively communicate with craft employees, supervisors, management, clients, and emergency response personnel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to conduct safety meetings and effectively teach safety-related subjects to field employees.
• Ability to investigate incidents, gather facts, prepare documentation, and recommend corrective actions.
• Ability to interpret safety-related information and data and apply appropriate corrective measures.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate documentation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while functioning effectively as part of a project team.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel throughout active construction sites.
• Ability to observe work activities and the safe operation of heavy equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and effectively use company software, electronic forms, printers, scanners, and other business technology. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years of related HSE, safety, construction, or industrial experience.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to assigned jobsites.
• Ability to work in active construction environments and varying weather conditions.

Preferred Training & Certifications Training or certification in one or more of the following is preferred:

OSHA 30-Hour Construction First Aid/CPR Hazard Communication/Hazardous Materials Excavation Competent Person Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Confined Space Defensive Driving HAZWOPER Heavy Equipment Safety/Operations Physical & Work Requirements

This position requires regular work in active construction environments and may involve exposure to extreme heat, cold, noise, dust, uneven terrain, heavy equipment, and other typical construction-site conditions.

The employee must be able to:

• Frequently walk and travel throughout construction jobsites, including uneven or unimproved terrain.
• See and observe work activities under varying lighting and environmental conditions.
• Communicate effectively in person and through telephone or radio.
• Wear required personal protective equipment and, when necessary, respiratory protection.
• Work in or around areas where atmospheric monitoring may be required.
• Lift, carry, push, or pull equipment and materials associated with HSE activities.
• Heavier objects may require team lifting or mechanical assistance.
• Travel by vehicle to and between assigned project locations.
• Work extended hours or varying schedules when project or emergency conditions require.
